Everyone loves a scandal...

Renowned 'World' players caught in bed!

Hexacoto reports:
In a recent spate of events, none has come truly as close to this shocking turn of a scandal when alleged couple Kee Xuyuan and Sid, both of World(tm) renown, were caught together in a same bed. Speculations have been made by professional analysts as to whether this picture can be considered a credible source and what impact this trudge would have on the team and their games in the future.

Apparently this 'interfacing of hardware' between Kee and Sid has, instead of worsening ties and camaraderie, closened them in ways unthinkable as tactly proven in their usual duality in the recent match against the Orange team. Far from dismay, the two alleged couple has grown closer and stronger.

An inside source reveals, "I've always thought there to be something... illicit about them. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it to be actually true," quips a fan of The World(tm) team, apparently delighted at this hot, juicy piece of information. "Oh..does this mean Kee is taken?" spouts a dejected-looking female. "Secretly, I've always had the hots for Kee, eventhough he's eager to prove himself a groupie to some other team."

Caught, although not in the act, in a bed in Desaru and blasphemously, in the presence of the other couple, Rémi and Huifang as well as sporadic individual Alex, it was supposedly reported that Kee upon sighting Sid alone in bed, jumped at the chance and jumped into bed with him, eventhough it was a single bed.

"I suppose they like it cosy," remarks an eyewitness.

However, upon the sighting of reporters, Kee's hockey-honed vigilance sprang into action fast enough for him to pose (see picture) defiantly for the photographer.

Both accused are unavailable for comment at the moment.

P.S: This is all humor ok? Don't sue.

A New Drama Series...

This is on Wednesday 14's session. I've decided to spruce it up a little and hence I present to you...

Before we begin, let us introduce the main cast, although everyone was a main factor in the game, but let's just accomodate to me a while, shall we?

Xuyuan is played by Kee,

The story begins....

Prologue

KeeXuyuan was a destitute child, abandoned by hockey teams who wouldn't acknowledge his existence. His familiar, Alice, has mysterious gone missing, an absence sorely missed by the Orange Team (the very that chucked Xuyuan out). With burning vengeance, Xuyuan looked back upon the titans of Orange and stumbled aimlessly through miasma and setbacks, finally stumbling upon a friendly hand. Half-blind (although cynics doubt that) with frustration and pent-up passion, Xuyuan saw that this friendly hand came in the form of genteel (*cough*) Sid. Halo and bright lights bedazzled Xuyuan as he took the hand of this benign angel (*cough*) and it was then on, Xuyuan has fallen into the mires of The World(tm).

Although Sid does not look it, Sid actually appears younger than what he actually is. Turns out that Xuyuan actually is the elder of them both, but to be in, Sid is imperceptibly the elder.

"Elder sounds old. Can I call you 'gu-gu'(aunt) then?"

"Whatever."

Hence the beginnings of Xuyuan's orientation began, with unrelenting pushings of The World and his gu-gu, Xuyuan's ability to control and handle the games and the ball and the stick rose beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Speed and finesse, he strove to master them both.

In this seclude bliss, Xuyuan experienced happiness he never knew possible. Being once in Orange seemed like a dream to him, and his current state of being too is like a dream, but a dream he never wishes to wake from.

Impending squall

However, one day, on a very Wednesday 14th of December 2005, just as Xuyuan was as usual honing his skills with his gu-gu, their sanctity was infringed and encroached upon. Orange came blaring up to their grove with rods ablaze, calling for a match.

Their torches lit the starlit sky furthur, bathing the serene ebony sky with twinges of red and smoke. From their safety, Xuyuan and Sid peeked out. 6 of the Orange sect has challenged The World(tm)! Not to be daunted, Xuyuan and his gu-gu strode calmly into the scene.

Eyeballing each other, The World(tm) sized up the oppenents strength, and a smirk escaped Sid. Orange made the first move! The Orange sect has sent out a mixture of Kailun, Huifang, Rémi, Theng Huat, Joseph, Shaun and surprisingly, Andrew, whom everyone thought was on the world until later. Whatever was Orange thinking? Sending a seedling into the fray? Clashes of steel, plastic and wood ensued, ensuring chaos and frenzy.

The World(tm) strangely seemed to comprise of mainly Xuyuan and Sid, with ocassional assistances and a damn-near goal from Yihao. Oh by the way The World(tm) comprised of Xuyuan, Sid (gu-gu), Kok, Jeff, Maxim, Raine and Yihao. While Sid watched from the safe throes of the rusted goalpost as he loosened reins on his Xuyuan to have him foray into the heat of it all, when it seemed inevitable Sid dashed out to secure a goal, but was to no avail 10 minutes into the game. Xuyuan, HIS Xuyuan seemed overpowered.

Seems that Sid is no longer content to sit safely in his saddle, so as to speak. Pulling into the 4th gear and more, Sid flew instantly to Xuyuan's aid. From then on, the nightmare of Orange commenceth.

Then on, Sid drew into hoo-hah pairing up with Xuyuan to perform impeccable duality that bordered on the line between magic and grace, but mostly frutrating to the Orange sect.

The harder Orange fought back, it seems the more vociferous the duo got. Slinking in between the defenses of Orange, their formidable two-pronged attacked still was halted formidably by Huifang, stalward goalkeeper of the Orange sect.

"Nothing gets by me!" declares Huifang as deftly she manipulates the ball and deflects it.

It carried on in this vein for quite some while, tiring out both an Orange sect member and the writer of this series. Then and quite suddenly, Sid (quoth KeeXuyuan verbatim) went on one of his speedy dribbles down the side (once again, without his bib..) and unleashed a low shot at goal, which Huifang was unable to save. 1-0 to The World(tm).

Both sects and Xuyuan and his gu-gu exhausted, the half was over. Xuyuan and his gu-gu was seen to amble off together to furthur 'discuss tactics' and do a post mortem of the climatic face-off just now.

With unearthly tomes of unknown uncovered, Xuyuan and his gu-gu were practising illicit moves to apply later in the second half. Hints and glimpses of 'coming together to deal with Orange' and intimidating 'bi-passes' wafted through the tumult of the resting period. Both of them began to refine their techinique.

Shrouded in the darkness, away from prying eyes, and after what seemed like eternity to them, their strategy was confirmed upon. They were done.

The second half began with much gusto. There the Orange sect witnessed some of the toughest and fiercest fight yet. Speed records broken, bones and dignity broken. Broken ocassionally by the tumbling fall of Orange sect member, whose fall was broken by his wrist and knee almost broken, nothing could break the fervor that Xuyuan and his gu-gu has cooked up.

Swinging their sticks like a dervish, the duo plunged into the thick of the opponents with ridiculous ease once the initial barrier has been penetrated. Still, the first line of defence was a force to be reckoned with. Kailun has quite earned himself the nickname of being a... ah I can't translate that it's in Chinese ... and true to that name, many a times have the World's ball been snatched right under their noses, although regrettably seldom were there Orange sect members on the standby for support. Andrew, a newbling, proved himself beyond all doubt by actually blocking one of Sid's ball!!

Past the initial defense, the duo set themselves up for the devious strategy they cooked up earlier on.

Sid took the right wing with Xuyuan taking the left, keeping slightly ahead. Using himself as a diversion, the Orange thronged Sid and with a heave, passed to Xuyuan who'd try to score or return pass to his gu-gu. And BOOM! 1-0.

Bah.

So what happened later? The game resumed with a spectacular goal from the Orange sect, cutting the scoring time to within minutes of that goalkick. From afar, the ball traipsed past Kok, past Andrew, past undoubtedly Xuyuan and his gu-gu who were looking from afar deep in Orange territory and from behind the half line, the ball travelled towards World goalie Yihao who accidentally touched it and it went into the goal, becoming an own goal by Yihao.

Touché.

Spurred on by this humiliating goal, The World(tm) doubled their efforts and quite contrary to CrazyUnicyclist's commentary, the one ball by Sid was not caught unawares by such a long range shot' because then she was very occupied with Jolyon's monstrous velocipede and his crash, and not because Sid's incredibly talented at long range shots or anything =p.

2-1 it is.

Bla bla bla, yadda yadda yadda. The predictable duo did the same thing again. Sid on the right, Xuyuan left of him. Bang whoop yawn, 3-1. Try something new will ya?

Of course it is up to Orange to up the ante. While the besotted couple tried to pull of their nifty albeit boring trick, Joseph valiant knocked the ball out of their posession, leaving fans in gasp as once again they knew with Orange in posession, the andrenaline gets going. They knew that the open goal left by the World was divine intervention. They knew that Theng Huat's opportune positioning by the World's goalpost was not sheer luck or chance, but shrewd craftiness. 3-2.

Then, the game got harder as The World tightened their defenses and shrouded, multiplying their blocking of incoming Orange sect heresies while dividing Orange's unified formation, not before subtracting chances of Orange scoring but rather, adding to their own possibilities of keeping the lead. While considering the factors (time and fatigue), The World took on a 'Tian Luo Di Wang' (Heavenly Trap, Earthly net) formation, allowing no Orange infidels to slip through.

Indeed, seldom could Orange penetrate this web. However, on one rare ocassion, one did sleep through, only to be thwarted by the mass that looms forebodingly over the lone Orange, who would be attack en masse, leaving him/her dazed amongst rubble.

Indeed what happened after that, the writer does not know because he was involved in a seriously bad crash involving him and himself. You see, the writer was tripped by his own stick while driving at breakneck speeds.

The writer cannot continue this drama series anymorem, but rumor has it that the score was 4-2. Which means after the writer collapsed in a pile of bruises, The World scored another goal.

The author is in a pile, in a corner, tending his bruises.

END.

The World(tm) 5 - 2 Orange

After the humilating defeat at the hands of Orange the previous week (albiet without most of their key players), The World(tm) was smarting for revenge. Recalling players such as Sid from his holidays, as well as being boosted by the return of Kee from surgery, and the surprise reappearance of Yihao, The World was looking to take the game to Orange and beat them by a comfortable margin.

Orange however was not to be trifled with and also saw the return of long lost player Teng "I will start preparing for exams 3 months before hand" Huat. As such the teams lined up to face each other on the courts.

Some background info on the 2 teams. In the head to head record, The World(tm) has won 3 times to Orange's 1. There was only 1 draw between the meeting of these 2 sides.

The teams lined up as such.

The World(tm)

  • Sid

  • Maxim

  • Yihao

  • Jeff

  • Kee

  • Raine

  • Kok

Orange

  • Kailun

  • Huifang

  • Remi

  • Shaun

  • Joseph

  • Andrew

  • Teng Huat

Game on.

First half saw a multitude of chance wasted by both teams and ended with 1 goal seperating the 2 teams. Sid went on one of his speedy dribbles down the side (once again, without his bib..) and unleashed a low shot at goal, which Huifang was unable to save. 1-0 to The World(tm).

The onset of the second half saw a rash of substitutions for both team which confused me enough to decide not to comment on it.

Orange hit back immediately with a long shot by Shaun which was unfortunately turned into the net by Yihao. Yihao tried to claim that Andrew was encroaching and infringing and violating his personal space, but to no avail. Score, 1-1.

The World decided that such a score was unacceptable and set out to rectify that. Another dribble down the right flank by Sid was him switch the ball to Kee on the left flank, who hit it low and hard to the bottom left hand corner of the Orange goal. Huifang was caught unawares by such a long range shot it was 2-1 to The World(tm).

A breakaway resulted in Sid racing down the right flank once again and crossing the ball to an unmarked Kee in the center. Unfortunately, the ball was hit behind him and he was only able to guide the ball towards the goal. An alert Huifang was onhand to block it but only managed to push it out for the returning Sid to smash it home. 3-1 to The World(tm).

Orange were now smarting and looking for someway back into the match and they got that from an inspirational Shaun and Teng Huat. The both of them combined well and finally managed to shoot the ball into an empty net. Why was it empty? Ask Sid.

Another melee in the center saw Kee breakaway with the ball and in a 1 on 1 situation with Huifang the keeper. He hits the ball towards the bottom corner only to see Huifang's stick come in the way. There however was enough force to see the ball loop up and with a further breath of air by the spectators, push the ball into the net. 4-2 The World(tm) and all was looking good.

The switching off of the lights bekoned the end of the match and The World was once again left to celebrate their victory.

Stay tuned next week for more nail biting action from Singapore Poly!

Alright! i've finally moved myself to do something.

hem hem. new template. new start. NOW let's hope a certain Sid doesn't delete it again. i don't know if he can. does he have administrators' access?

Anyway, i'll try and do the invites to everyone, so that anyone can post once again.

hurray to me!

erk i don't think much of this template really. hmmmm.

BUT i'll have you know i kinda like the stickmen. the full version of it involved the uniman using the stick to attack some monster, and going down steps and railings and stuff but the file size went waay too big, so i had to cut them out.

alright enough banter. NOW SOMEONE POST!

10-1

Just to rub some salt into the wounds of Orange, I'll like to reiterate the scoreline for Wednesday night. It wasn't a marginal win, it wasn't even a comfortable win. There's no other way to describe it other then an utterly humiliating trashing.

Despite BenI's claims that "it was all luck". The World(tm) showed incredible verve and flair to put 10 goals past a halpless Orange team.

"The harder I train, the luckier I get" was onced said, and it can only be said that the tireless riding and superb teamwork amoung The World(tm) allowed for such a scoreline.

Despite missing regular stalwarts like Si "I will crash into anything that comes in my way" yong and Max "I will mug till I drop" im, The World(tm) managed to put in a breathtaking display of attacking hockey, putting the Orange team to the sword and winning in an overwhelming manner.

Already leading 6-0 at halftime, The World(tm) players managed to ride out with their heads held up high and then proceeded to pile more misery onto an already demoralised Orange team by putting another 4 goals past a stranded Huifang. Despite Orange scoring what was an extremly fluke, where Alice managed to calculate the exact angle at which to hit Remi's wheel to cause it to deflect into goal, The World(tm) help on to their lead and rode out deserved winners.

Will Orange be able to bounce back from this defeat? Or will the The World(tm) continue with their domination of the local hockey scene? Stay tuned next week for the next update on the continuing battle between the forces of The World (tm) and Orange.

Epilogue

all's well that ends well! that furious match ended with dissent and discontent on Sid's part as he perpetually fumed, swearing vengeance and the imminent downfall of the Oranges.

however, all grudges were resolved at the teh-bing session, which i'm sure i wouldn't like to rob Siyong of his recapping duties. after all, the teh-bing culture (or is it more of a cult, as proposed by Jiahui?) was founded by him!

Round 2

under constant pressure, i have finally decided to put up the sequel to the highly exciting, nail-biting adventure!

previously, The World only began to peak up in the later half of the game. this however was not to be seen as a defect. being in prime condition now, The World(tm) held a slight edge over the slightly fatigued Orange. as if to deal the Orange a double blow, Hui Fang had pressing matters to attend to, hence quelling one of Orange's ranks. could this spell the imminent defeat of the long-standing victors??

the match begins!

being all hyped up, The World(tm) had a headstart by barging straight deep into the Orange's half, surprising the Oranges. shaking out of its reverie, Orange played on defensive, showing some of the most impenetrable defences seen yet. slowly but surely, the squall was played to the middle court, with no visible headway for either side. with a sudden streak, siyong suddenly broke through the impregnable defences of Kee and the path was clear. however, there was no time to lose! Kee and Shaun were steadily gaining distance on him. Siyong, with precision, let loose a shot from way outside the scoring box. Jasmine panicked, and the ball went in, making the score:

0:1

this bodes ill for Orange. could they have lost their nerve? could they have toppled the momentum that they built from the first match? stirred, but not shaken, Orange starts off. the wrath of the Orange manifested itself in its deadly passes and feints. Orange is on all-out offensive now, Kee, Kai Lun and Shaun have left their defensive posts and have strategically positioned themselves for goal-scoring.Ben arrives, passes! devious interception by The World(tm)! a high ball bounded towards the Orange's half, aided by Joseph. the ball was stopped obscurely by some obscure Orange player (i forgot who, in short), and the ball returned to the heat in The World's(tm) fray. Joseph and Maxim returned from their posts to play defensive! sticks clashed, wheels grinded and somewhere someone let out a scream. amidst the whirl of comfusion, Jia Hui was training her eye for the ball. Kee entered the fray! never has the competition seen so many players vying for the ball, with the Orange desperately attempting to hook the ball into The World's(tm) goal. more confusion, more flurries.

when the dust cleared, the ball was lying serenely in The World's(tm) goal already. looks like it was a goal from Orange by Ben, upping the scales to:

1:1

taking a small breather on their cycles, they regained composure, and Jia Hui passed the ball to Sid, starting the game. immediately, Shaun went careening towards Sid in a futile attempt to dislodge the ball from Sid's insidious (haha inSIDious, nice choice of words eh?) monopoly of the ball. soon, Shaun was literally dancing with death, as he swerved around Sid, who too played along with this dance of macabre, successfully making Shaun dizzy. upon that weakness, Sid then moved off in the opposite direction and through-passed to Siyong who was awaiting patiently for the ball. unlucky! he missed the pass and was caught by Ben unawares who then took the ball. Sid hence flew towards Ben, but Ben dodged. Ben shoots! nooo!! the ball was deflected by Maxim's wheel! Sid rushed after the ball but met with resistance from Kai Lun. Kai lun with his usual tacit gently back-hooked the ball, proving that brute force isn't the only thing that makes a game of uni-hockey work. with Sid out of the way, Kai lun headed towards The World's(tm) half. Sid immediately doubled up and recovered, keeping close onto Kai lun's tail. suddenly, Sid crashed (into me) and his unicycle malfunctioned. Sid hence hobbled to one side to repair his unicycle. Joseph asked, "where's the mechanic??" only to realize the only mechanic around was Kailun, who was happily taunting The World.

hence The World, having temporarily lost Sid, decided to concentrate on tight defence. circles of security prevent effective scoring from Orange. Ben attempts to shoot from far, but the shot goes wide. Sid returns, albeit on a smaller unicycle, but rest assured his ability is no less even on a smaller wheel. Ben shoots again! Sid deflects it with his wheel! this goes to show even a small wheel can block shots! the ball goes out, back to the mid-court. Ben diverts the course of the ball back into the heart of The World and shoots with ferocity! he scores!!! that is yet another of Ben's spectacular shots.

2:1

rounding up, a series of complex passes between the midfield and the right wings commenced. back and forth, The World expended Orange's sanity and energy as they short-passed the ball and luring the Oranges to ursurp it. increasingly frustrated, Kailun disengaged the ball, and Kee picked it up. instantly, The World changed to defensive mode, and Kee was faced suddenly with a plethora of The World defenders, armed to the teeth with determination and grit not to allow the Orange to secure yet another victory. Kee scores a mildly high ball! Jiahui's unable to stop it! it was yet another goal!! hence the score now is:

3:1

quoting Kailun, "wah, we are like bullying Jiahui on her first time as a goalie...".

one could literally see the fire flaring from The World. Sid's black face was a notch blacker than usual, paling even his black shirt in comparison. some altercation began among The World, no doubt the root of yet another strategy to trash the Orange. Sid sets off! he passes to Siyong! Siyong receives the pass gracefully and dribbled past Shaun with a bounce and Joseph caught the bounce, but went awry in the attempt to secure the ball for The World. however, Sid caught it on the rebound and tore off towards the Orange's goal, and from outside the penalty area, Sid took aim and fired! Kailun quickly repositioned himself, wheel horizontal with the goal. yet that was not enough to stop the might of Sid's ball as it went through the defence, redeeming The World.

slightly.

this makes the score:

3:2

with only minutes left to spare, the difference between the scores was not satisfying enough. for Ben, that is. rallying to his team mates, he quickly designated and restructured Orange's playing structure. with a 3:2:1 (2 wings, 1 midfield: 2 defenders on either wings, 1 goalie), Orange looked set to be on an all-offensive.

The World sets off! the first wave of Orange offense went in and clashed. confrontation never looked so scary. Sid was once again forced invalid as even the minute wheel started giving problems. zooming off-field to get another uni, Ben seized the opportunity and doubled his efforts at offense! The World could be seen struggling, as Maxim, Siyong and Joseph fought off wave after wave of relentless assaults from Ben and Kailun. soon, The World lost their grip, and Ben with shot the ball endless times. a deflect! Ben caught the rebound and shot again!

another deflect! wow Jiahui is showing some promise as a goalie!

yet another deflect, but the ball lost its momentum and roll abruptly right in front of the goal. Ben pushed the ball in with all remaining energy, and the ball conceded! another goal!!

4:2

bla bla bla, goal!!!!!!

5:2

(ok that was laziness on my part. here's the commentary for that goal...)

Sid returns, on a 26" wheel with dimunitive cranks. this could only mean a better torque. with an advanced acceleration factor, Sid soon proves himself a worthy adversary as he challenged the capabilities of the Oranges with his maniacal twists and tackles.

in short, Sid was nothing short of a raving lunatic lashing out with a hockey stick.

one could see the mania getting to Sid's head. as Maxim through passed the ball to Sid, and Orange on minimal defence, Sid shot, but missed! Kee reclaimed the ball, and with dead accuracy passed from a corner to the heat of the game in the mid-field, where Ben shot yet another goal from the right wing!

yay! and that was the end of today's match.

Invasion of the Singapore Unicyclists

On Monday,I get a stern mail from Hui Fang that read,"I'm not writing the blog.I'm inviting you."Shucks!!!I've got my orders.

The invasion of the island in question,Sentosa was led by Major Kai Lun and his 6 faithful footmen. They decided to meet at the HarbourFront train station to hatch their battleplan. As all good soldiers do, everyone arrived on time apart from a certain Private Sid, who was rushing from Camp Ang Mo Kio on his faithful one-wheeler.TheMajor led P.Hui Fang, P.Remi, P.Joseph, P.Maxim and P.Raine, the latter two resplendent in their orange Singapore Unicyclists' T-shirts, to the food court where the plan was drafted.P.Sid arrived soon after, breathless and warned the Major that the weather was not on their side.It was unforgivingly hot.

Undeterred, the Major led his troops towards Sentosa. At this point,P.Joseph decided to put on his safety helmet and promptly caused the rest to burst out laughing. The seven troopers unicycled their way over the causeway, their stealth training coming in handy. That's beacuse when they breached Sentosa's boundary thay had managed to penetrate the tiny hole in Sentosa's security system.Yes, they had infiltrated the island WITHOUT paying the $2 entry requirement.

The next part of the journey was on foot as the heros reached the first venue of the Bike Trials Competition.Mission:Get noticed and spread the message:The Singapore Unicyclists are here to stay. After watching some great bike trials action including some incredibly high side-hops the seven set out to a different venue. But all this was not before P.Remi decided to break out his towel and wrap it around his head.He was promptly renamed P.Osama bin Remi.

The next venue was a more natural venue where Major Kai Lun decided that it was time he got into the act.As a bunch of wimpy Trials Bikers contemplated doing an extremely steep drop, the Major coolly got onto his unicycle and landed the drop with considerable ease and what's more,he carried on down towards the end.Unfortunately, he was warned too late of an upcoming ditch by his now-weary troops and landed in the drain. The trench warfare had begun.

Our heros then proceeded towards the next venue, a man-made trials section. But this time the unicyclists were followed by a bunch of admiring bikers. Our mission was almost done. After spending quite a lot of time at that particular venue, due to exhaustion and some attractive trials action they decided it was time for a break.

The seven headed down to DeliFrance,(obviously for P.Remi it was just Deli), after a bit of offroad unicycling.P.Remi made his way to the beach, (something he was pining for, the whole time), while the rest stuffed themselves. Then, more trials action. But, this time it was a lot more serious. The Major began explaining to the Trials organisers about the problems with the unicycles in Singapore.Could there be another distributor of unicycles in Singapore?Well, negotiations are on.The Major was without his favourite 26" and hence, could not show his skill as much as he would have liked to.But the unicycles did attract quite a few.Mission accomplished.Time to head back but not without taking a few photos. And yes, the rumour is true. One of them might be used for the Singapore Unicyclists' homepage.

As stealthily as they came, our heroes left Sentosa after a successful mission.P.Joseph,P.Maxim and P.Raine decided to leave for basecamp while the other four decided to have some dessert to celebrate. And so they did.But as this point P.Sid was silent, apparently gutted by the shocking news....Team Farrari were being lapped by Team Toyota but on the other hand Team India had just beaten Team Pakistan in a 5-day battle...................of cricket. But as George Orwell famously likened sport to war by saying,"Sport is war minus the shooting"...............YES, the battle for supremacy rages on...And it will be an all-out brawl between the Orange Team and the World(tm)...in a double header this week...This is a rivalry unmatched by anything ever witnessed in the history of the world...Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen...The best is yet to come.

Round 1

andrenaline grips the field. the atmosphere was electric. the game started with the ball in Orange's possession, as Ben started off, flanked on either sides by Kailun and Shaun. The World(tm) met the challenge, and attempted to disengage the ball from Orange's iron grip. Ben passes to Shaun, he misses!!(cue boos and jeers). the ball veers towards the drains and Sid immediately intercepts it in its path and flares across the pitch. Sid through passes to Siyong but Kee swerves in and snatches the ball, going far out with the ball and it lands in Ben's possession. Ben rears up his stick, ready to score. all heads turn in his direction. he hits! and it's a goal!! that brings the score to:

1:0

The World(tm) however was not to be demoralized by such trivialities. they will strike back! Maxim sets off with the ball, and utilizing short but accurate passes, it went to Joseph, which went to Sid. Orange however has enshrouded Sid with sticks and furore. Sid remains composed, and bounce-passed the ball to Siyong! Siyong rushes off towards the enemy's goal. Orange's defences closes in! he attempts to pass but oh! the ball was hit away, leaving it in the open. Maxim, Sid and Ben rushes towards the ball! a flurry of sticks! the ball bounces towards The World's(tm) goalpost! Ben shoots! Jiahui, with impeccable skill deflects the assault! the ball however remains in the scoring area. Shaun cometh! with alot of flailing and wild swinging, he manages to hit the ball, squeezing it between Jiahui's and Joseph's wheel, and into the goal. thus, that brings the score to:

2:0

Orange threatens to reign supreme. vigor and rage fuels The World(tm). surely they aren't to give up without a fight? The World(tm) sets off, with Joseph and Maxim in crucial positions vital for their complex strategy. Siyong passes to Sid, who passes back to Siyong and with that strategy, cleverly evades the pervading Oranges. Sid, now with the possession of the ball, dashes with the grace and dexterity that an elephant wouldn't possess, wove in and out of the ranks of Orange, and before anyone knew it, Sid shoots sublimely, hitting the Orange at where it hurt most. a goal! a devious attempt that worked, bring the score to:

2:1

...and a chance at The World's(tm) revival, and also making this the fastest goal scored.

Ben sets off, passes to Kee, who passes to Kailun at the other wing. Sid challenges! with clever exchanges of feints and twisting, the ball however flew off in a different direction, landing it in The World's(tm) possession. Ben seizes the opportunity! with breakneck speed, a blur flew from mid-court, a spate of defenders came in to secure the ball. "Defence!!" was heard somewhere. but the defenders were a tad too slow. Ben had already shot. but wait! once again, Lady Luck, together with Jiahui's skill, blocked the vehement shot, astounding all. Ben gears in for a second attempt. he shoots! he scores! this time, Ben showed no mercy. the score was

3:1

The World(tm) sets off! Maxim started and passed to Siyong. Kee cuts in! with an impeccable and dead-set accurate pass that could have put a trained marksman to shame, Ben receives the pass and seeing that the way is clear, rides to secure another victory for Orange! Sid, with a war cry, dashes in from nowhere to defend! Ben stumbles! the ball is out of his reach! the ball lies in the scoring area! Ben returns for a second wind! Sid, in desperation jumps off his unicycle and purposely fouls so that Ben cannot shoot. this earned Orange a penalty shot.

Ben readies himself. Sid takes up the challenge of the goalie. meanwhile, the rest shifts uneasily. "Someone be prepared to take up the rebound," Ben advises sagely. more tension, more suspense. a protraction from Ben, a drop of sweat rolls off Sid's head as he eyed Ben with utmost concentration.

movement! Ben shoots! Sid with his ingenuity, uses his 26" wheel to deflect the penalty shot! the ball flies off towards the myriad of Orange and The World(tm) players but no one took the rebound ball! the ball rolls towards the drains(again)!! Sid abandoning the goalpost dashed towards the ball, secured it and sped off towards Orange's goal. Jasmine was unable to stop the tenacity of Sid, hence upping the score to:

3:2

..and turning the tides towards The World's(tm) favor.

Orange returned in full force, Shaun's meagre attempt to pass to Kee was intercepted by Joseph, who was in turn intercepted by Kailun. the ball which was previously in the Orange's half was now in The World's(tm) half, rendering Sid unable to defend. however, Joseph's stalward guard at the goalpost, doubled with Jiahui's goalkeeping ability was not enough to keep Kee from scoring. the ball squeezed through (once again) but went awry. Ben, on the upkeep, drew the ball back into scoring positions and shot, leaving everyone breathless (euphoria for the Orange, fatigue for The World(tm))

4:2

it appears that The World(tm) did not function at maximum capabilities, only until the later half of that game. still, it was good to know that this fervor would carry on onto the next match!

watch this space for the commentary on the next match!

Prologue

owing to the fact that siyong is on the verge of collaspe and probable strike, me, shaun, has temporarily taken his menial tasks. here goes!

Prologue

Orange vs The World(tm)

the weather was dandy, and there were no violently shaking storms objecting the match that was to follow. at 7pm, Sid, Ben, Siyong and me were there, revving ourselves for the carnage that was to ensue in the following match. ben was strutting his stuff, wowing and leaving audiences slack-jawed as he wheel-walked one-footed and did some hopping with his feet on the wheel. soon, Kai lun , Kee, Jasmine and some others arrived with gusto, ready to put the wheels of a fast-paced game in motion.

clad in orange were Ben, Kai Lun, Kee, Shaun, Hui Fang, Jasmine.

armed in 'The World(tm)' colors were Sid, Joseph, Maxim, Siyong and Jia Hui.

let the scuffle begin!

The Adventures of PINK UNICYCLE!

This is the story of a unicycle. A pink unicycle at that. It use to be a nice silver color.

But no, it was not to be. It would not get to live it's life as a nice ordinary silver unicycle. For evil lurks everywhere and this time it appeared in the form of Jia Hui *cue thunder and lightning + evil laughter* Appearing out of nowhere, she captured the poor silver unicycle and brought it to the lands of which she reigned supreme - PGP residences. *cue more thunder and lightning*

Not content with the capture of a poor innocent unicycle, the manical mistress of misfortune decided that she needed to compound the misery of the unicycle and paint it PINK! Luckily the plans to add daisy and flowers was aborted due to laziness on Jia Hui's part.

Not to be deterred, the now Pink Unicycle was brought to a gathering to be paraded in front of more unicycles. Silver, black, but none as shocking pink as this poor little unicycle.

What will come of this poor unicycle? What cruel fates lie in the none too distant future? Only the fates know.

Stay tuned for more heart-renching adventures of "The Pink Unicycle"!

Note: No unicycles were harmed in the production of this essay. Except maybe, Sid's BLACK unicycle, which got a twisted neck somewhat. But it WASN'T our fault!

"Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 3 - Part 2

Orange - 2 (Alex, Ben)
The World(tm) - 2 (siyong, Sid)

It was TWtm who drew 1st blood. Thirst for revenge has always been a characteristic of the dark side, and TWtm show exactly how potent this craving can be. Turning on their sambal mode immedietely, TWtm dominated the beginnings of e match, going on to a brilliant spell of 15mins, knocking in 2 goals without any reply

The 1st goal showed why having control of mid-court is so important in this beautiful game. After a mid-court tussle involving most of the out field players, Twtm managed to win possesion. Maxim, ever alert, saw a chance to break e dead-lock and unleashed a through ball up court instantly. siyong, 1st to break away from the mid-field pack, latched on to the pass and found himself one-on-one with Orange's keeper. Keeping his composure, he got himself closer to e goal b4 slotting it home from close range. 1-0 to Twtm

A 2nd goal was scored shortly after by TWtm's star player Sid. In a mesmerising dribble, Sid managed to get pass most of Oranges's players and scored with a clinical finishing. It seems almost a formality that he put the ball into the back of net. superb individual effort from the man

BUT, just when u thought Orange has no answer to TWtm's sambal-ness, they promptly got themselves back into e game. This time, they managed to score NOT through their usual counter-attacks, but instead, through e under utilized set pieces. From a corner, Passing guru Kee found Alex with alot of space, and did a short pass to him without hesitation. This was completely unexpected, and Alex made full use of e opportunity by getting himself into a better angle b4 shooting from some range. The shot beat TWtm keeper pin2 at the far post, rekindling hope for Orange. A definite turning point of e game, the score becomes 2-0

The Orange comeback was completed minutes b4 e interval, with Orange Ben scoring e equalizer. A quick turn over in mid-court (again) saw Ben racing through, and Sid on e ground with cries of fouls. Ben did not heed Sid's illegible claims of course, and managed to dribble pass Remi b4 shooting pass TWtm's keeper. The worst of all is, all these happened when siyong and Kailun was off-court servicing siyong's GONE-CASE crank. How sad

Sad it maybe, but e series of unfortunate events did not end just yet. Till

"Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 3

As predicted, the energy present in SP yesterday was unbelievable, with both sides of the force growing steadily from strength to strength. Orange was boostered by the likes of Alex and Cek, with veterans Ben, Kee, Kailun and Huifang firm in the choice of their side. The World(tm)[TWtm] on the other hand, saw the addition of pin2 as their keeper, with Sid, siyong, Maxim, Remi and Joseph still swearing by the power of the dark side

This is going to be one hell of a party

Journey to the West

It was but a journey worth commemorating. It was a dark night, one where the stars couldn't shine through. Could this be an omen of impending disaster? The brave quartet knew not. Siyong, Kailun, Jiahui and Darren trekked to the west (and sometimes took a bus) in search of the legendary Teh-bing of the west!

It started with Alice, who was asked whether she wanted to join them for teh-bing. She assumed that they might be having it in Clementi, and out of jest, she said that if they were to have it in her area, she'd join them. Half-expecting them to say "No", she received a rude shock when the candid reply was "Ok". So the quartet set off from various points of Singapore and to obtain the teh-bing of the west!

However, things were not all sugar and candy. With one of the four's incredible navigating skills (I don't know whose), they managed to get themselves, quite lost. Apparently they alighted about 2 stops too early. Hence had they to abandon their trusty steed (the SBS bus) and set out on foot. They endured numerous obstacles and dangers, braving the perilous mosquitos, valiantly outwitting devious houseflies. They walked and walked, with strength never failing for they had their goal in mind: the teh-bing will soon be ours!! It was through sheer determination that they met me and Alice waiting for them, with solace and sanctuary. Our cheerful first words to the team were, "Darren! Did you cut your hair??!!"

Alice then soon led them to a kopitiam joint, and soon 4 teh-bings, 1 milo bing and a milo-kosong-bing were ordered (no prizes for guessing who ordered what). While waiting, Darren, with his usual ever-ready candor and wit, remarked that both Jiahui and Alice had 'interesting' glasses. This comment puzzled Alice, but Jiahui came to the rescue by helpfully deceiphering Darren's remarks that both of them wear 'lao chu nu' glasses (old spinster glasses). For a moment, Alice looked like she was contemplating whether she should pour the rest of her milo-kosong-bing down Darren's shirt, but decide dagainst because she was thirsty (and milo-kosong-bing cost money). Jiahui then asked, "Why this particular kopitiam??" when in effect, she was actually asking, "Why not have tea at my place? It's cheaper!" which she did ask, to which she started listing the variety of teas she had. "Blackcurrent, green tea, lipton tea, black tea, and at some point of the time, lemon. 40cents only!!" Ah, what a clever plan to earn some money.

Then, Darren once again danced with death, but offhandedly 'suaning' both Jiahui and Alice, again. What the exact words were, I cannot remember. You'd have to ask him yourself to repeat them.

During the course of the teh-bing session, we were entreated to the fact that one of the worst obstacle that the quartet had to endure were complains. Complains on why they had to go to the west to drink tea when they could have been drunk in her room *ahem* and also that the cost of the bus fare and the teh-bing could have equalled to 1 coffee at Coffee Beans which was near her place *ahem*... I think Kailun spoke at some point of the time, but I can't really recall. Most of the brusque conversations ranged over at the Siyong-Jiahui-Darren area. In the end, Siyong and Darren left with not only teh-bings in their stomach, but a roll of popiah each! Profit!

It was time to leave (back to the east) and when Alice let slip that they can take the train back, Jiahui once again glared daggers at the other three (Siyong, Kailun and Darren) because they made it seem like taking the bus was the only way there (you see, they had bus concession).

They walked to the train station, and some to the bus, and long story short, they reached there. Because Kailun and Siyong were taking bus back, Jiahui used her incredible skills of psychology and tried to reverse-psycho them to take the train with her (partly because they didn't have train concession, and also because she's eviiil). it didn't work however. so that sums up the story of the quartet's journey to the west for teh-bing, and we eagerly anticipate the next session...

...at jiahui's place of course.

"Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 2 - Part 3

2nd Half (30mins)

Orange - 3
The World(tm) - 3 (Sid hat-trick)

Bogged by the unjustified 1st half score-line, The World(tm) started 2nd half with utmost conviction, determined to breach Orange's solid shell of defence. And they were duly rewarded shortly after the interval
siyong, well-rested during the break, decided to leave his flanking duties, cut into the center and manage to break into quite a decent run. he managed to pull off a shot on target at the end of his run which was blocked by Orange's keeper. However the shot could only be parried to Sid, who slot it home from close range. Orange's defence finally conceded, 1-0 to The World(tm).
Inspired by their opener, The World(tm) managed to make it 2-0 a few minutes later. It was Sid who made a maze-y run this time, scoring his 2nd goal of the night. but Orange didnt take it lying down, and manage to pull a goal back through a controversial penalty.
in what seems to be a rather harmless pass into The World(tm)'s goal area, Ben managed to claim a foul off The World(tm)'s defence. The ball was said to be heading goal-wise b4 illegal obstrcution from The World(tm) and a penalty was awarded to Orange. Ben made no mistake from the spot-hit, making it 2-1
However, The World(tm)'s 2 goal lead was restored almost immediately, with Sid reacting quickly and completing his hat-tick b4 Orange could re-organise. His low-shot beat the keeper from long-range in what seems to be the best individual effort of the game
the game then lit up again, with Orange orchestrating an amazing come-back. Exploiting The World(tm)'s Loop-holes once again, long balls were played to Orange Kailun, who repeatedly manage to better The World(tm)'s tired defence. This forced The World(tm) to be on the back-pedal, unable to play their usual style of fluid, attacking play, aka Sambal style. This smart tactical move turn the game in Orange's favour again, with them scoring 2 more goal in quick succession, forcing the score into a tie.
exhausted from 2 intensive halves of 30 mins, The World(tm) is unable to get back into their sambal mood again, and so the score-line stood. 3-3 when the final whistle was blown, signalling the end of yet another cut-throat battle.
And then there was darkness... Total oblivion... a clear indication of the whats to come for "Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 3...
someone better treat me to teh-bing...

"Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 2 - Part 1

It is fast becoming a spectacular match to behold... "Orange vs The World(tm)". (wth does (tm) means anyway?)
and yesterday was a sure sign of the great things to come

The day started off well, with me, Kee, geoffery and his pogo stick having dinner at food court 3... All wearing NON-orange colours. Thinking that it will be another day where The World(tm) is going to reign supreme, i happily ate my ice-jelly, conjuring tactics and images of The World(tm) lifting up e prized trophy

But things did not go smoothly as one wishes
1stly, after some practising, Kee decided to change into orange before the start of the match. Then Kailun came, also in orange. and just when i thought things cant go possibly worse, Ben, obviously back with a vengence from India, appeared in the most beloved color of the singapore unicyclist

so the stage is set and gauntlets were thrown between Ben and Sid. it has been a long time since SP has seen such intensity, and everything points to Orange and The World(tm) going at each other's throats with nothing less than break neck speed

Fueled by the fires of passion and competition, even the sky changed as the whistle was blown to signal the start of "Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 2...

"Orange vs The World(tm)". ==> Round 2 - Part 2

1st Half (30mins)

Orange - 3 (Ben Matthews hat-rick)
The World(tm) - 0

It was a tighter half then e scoreline suggested, which highlights e difference in tactics between Orange and The World(tm).
The game plan of Orange builds on a tight defence, with quick bursts of counter attacks during turn overs. Having star-keeper Huifang keeping fort, Orange uses the blistering speed of Ben to deadly effect, bringing the ball up-court with lightning speed. Shaun, the up-coming young Orange player, was also quick on his feet (or rather unicycle), pedalling along-side Ben furiously in their vicious raids. It doesnt help that Orange veteran play-maker, Kee, provides those deadly through-passes with uncanny frequency and accuracy.
The World(tm), on the other hand, played their hearts out in contrasting fashion. Believing style is more important than the score-line, they played to their sambal roots, with more dribbling on the ball and 1-2 passes =p Though entertaining, their tactics just doesnt seem to as match-effective as Orange.
Loop-holes in The worlds's strategy was exposed in the nth minute. with The world's star-player Sid caught out after his failed attack, Orange Ben was quick to break down the world's defence, giving the world's keeper raine (with bf Maxim) no chance. In a matter of mins, the world(tm) was caught out again in a quick turn-over. with Sid and siyong stranded at Orange's goal, Ben and co. began another round of their raids, scoring b4 Sid and siyong can get back on their unicycles. A similar goal is scored minutes b4 the interval
Not that The World(tm) does not have their chances. There was skill galore from Sid, closing in to Orange's goal repeatly with his hard-dribbling. There was also moments of brilliance from siyong, providing rare defence splitting through-passes now and then. However, the defence of the Orange was rock-solid, closing down the sambal players quickly, keeping them at bay. with tough tackles thrown in and fatique catching up, The World(tm) went into the half frustrated. A half of the highest quality.
